A lawsuit has been filed against two Kansas jails over the death of an inmate that allegedly could have been prevented. Terry A. Bruner was arrested for DUI in November 2007 and sent to Sedgwick County Jail, but was transferred to the Stanton County Jail due to overcrowding. Florida ambulance provider EVAC has settled a $5 million lawsuit with a local woman whose son was born two months prematurely while in an ambulance during a transfer between two hospitals. Margaritia Stivers Chess was being transferred from Bert Fish Medical Center to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children when her son was born in 2004. He now suffers from cerebral palsy. An Ohio jury has awarded a local couple $1.63 million in a lawsuit filed against two doctors that delivered their son four years ago and allegedly caused him injury. The lawsuit claims that the mother requested a Caesarian section due to the size of the baby, but the doctors refused. While birthing the baby vaginally, the child’s shoulder became caught, causing permanent injuries to his right arm. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall Thursday of 2 million drop-side cribs over the potential for infants to become stuck between the railing and the crib and suffocate. The Chicago Tribune reported that the recall included models by Child Craft, Delta Enterprise, Evenflo, Jardine, Bona Vita, Babi Italia, ISSI, Million Dollar Baby and Simmons brands. The recall encompassed cribs in ten countries across the world, including the United States. At least 32 children’s deaths have …
