A friend of mine (and reader of this blog) is currently in New York City on business. She had just read my post on bed bugs posted earlier this morning and sent this along to let me know that New York is advertising that they have bed bugs. Well, actually they are advertising protect the bed products, but you get the idea. Thanks for the laugh (and shudder) Cathie!

A class-action lawsuit was filed last week by a group of residents of two Iowa apartment complexes who claim they have suffered “unconscionable and substandard living conditions” due to a bedbug infestation. More than 250 people at Ligutti Tower and Elsie Mason Manor apartment buildings claim that the bedbugs have scarred their bodies and affected their health, and that apartment owners have done almost nothing to solve the problem. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of around 1 million baby slings made by Infantino LLC after it was reported that the slings caused three infant deaths in 2009. The recalled slings are the Infantino “SlingRider” and “Wendy Bellissimo.” The slings present suffocation risks for children 4 months and younger. Jill Kelley , Dayton Daily News

Judge Orders Dialysis Firm to Repay Medicare
A U.S. District Court Judge in St. Louis has ordered Renal Care Group, a kidney dialysis company, to pay $19.4 million back to Medicare in a whistle-blower lawsuit. The suit claimed that the firm created a shell company to earn an extra 30 percent on dialysis supplies — money that is supposed to go only to independent companies.
