Toyota Lawsuit: Seeking $200 Million in Damages

Another lawsuit has been filed against Toyota Motors Inc., this time in Houston after a woman was killed in an accident when her car sped through a stop sign and smashed into a cement wall. The accident occurred on Dec. 18, a few weeks before the recall that would have included Trina Renee Harris’ 2009 Toyota Corolla. The Houston Chronicle reported that Harris told her husband that she felt the accelerator moved on its own at times, but didn’t think anything of it. Harris’ husband is seeking $200 million in damages for “gross negligence.” This is the third wrongful death lawsuit filed against Toyota in relation to the recalled vehicles. At this point we all know what a heart breaking disaster the whole gas pedal problem has been. I listened to the statements made by Mr. Toyoda and while I feel he is being sincere, the fact that they aren’t sure what is causing their cars to unexpectedly accelerate is not helping the millions of Toyota owners. The stories from some of these individuals is heart wrenching. The company will continue to replace floor mats and accelerators, but word has it that “it may be in the electronics.” That is a direct quote from Toyota.
For any Toyota owners reading this blog, if you notice anything amiss, please, park your car until Toyota gets a game plan for a real fix.
