I think it contributes to the there's not a nursing shortage but rather a shortage of nurses willing to work at the bedside. For some nurses, a latex allergy (like you) or a back injury (like one of my partners) took them out of the clinical setting. For me, it was simply that I did not feel valued and felt like I was being placed in a situation nightly where my license was in jeopardy. Hopefully, this will be a wake up call to providers.
