During this economic turmoil, many employers are forced to lay off some of their work force. In considering workers compensation issues, layoff preparations must be considered.
Make sure that as the employer you notify your claims administrator that you are going to have to make layoffs. Make sure that you also notify your legal counsel to help address any legal issues which may come up as you select those to be laid off.

Elder abuse is defined as any form of mistreatment that results in harm or loss to an older person and includes seven categories.
1. Physical Abuse: force that results in bodily injury, pain, or impairment and can include assault, battery and inappropriate restraint.
2. Sexual abuse: non-consensual sexual contact of any kind with an older person
3. Domestic violence: an escalating pattern of violence by an intimate partner where violence is used to exercise power and control.

The prosecuting attorney approached the witness. “Do you happen to know any of the people you see in the jury box?”
The witness looked them over and thought carefully before replying.
“Yes, I know more than half of them.”
“Keep in mind the solemn oath you have made before this court,”
continued the attorney. “Can you swear that you know more than half of them?”
“Why, I most certainly can!” the witness fired back. “In fact, I’ll swear I know more than all of them put together.”
