A recent article in The Annals of Pharmacotherapy found that consumers who rely on the user-edited Web resource Wikipedia for information on medications are putting themselves at risk of potentially harmful drug interactions and adverse effects. Medscape Drug Reference (MDR), is a peer-reviewed, free site, and was found to be more comprehensive when looking for answers to 80 different questions covering eight categories of drug information, for example adverse drug events, dosages, and mechanism of action.

I was watching the news yesterday and saw the incredible photos of the x-rays taken of this 17 month old child who had fallen onto his parent’s car key. Here the story and see the photos. Nicholas’ mom’s favorite words, “Which eye was it?” He lost no vision and suffered no brain damage.

Lapses in care at Psychiatric Solutions Inc., a major hospital chain with high earnings, have put patients at risk, regulators find. Some have even died. We all know the economy is bad. You can’t help but hear all about it every time you turn on the television, radio, or even surf the internet. It is bad, but this is one of the scariest news stories to me. Google layoffs, 10,000 workers affected.
