How do you feel this current financial crisis will affect your busines?  I have been glued to the news lately as this financial crisis plays out.  It should make us all think about the effect this will have on us in the healthcare field.  A recent article by Andrea Santiago, of About.com suggested that while heathcare is essentially recession proof, we are certainly not immune to the crisis.  Santiago suggests that areas of healtcare including student loans, clinical research, recruiting, and non-profit organizations will be directly affected by this crisis.  …

A recent article in WSJ by Jilian Mincer is titled Aid from Unlikely Sources. The article explains that for serious medical illness or crisis, insurance companies are able to provide specially trained professionals to assist patients in navigating the complicated healthcare system. The author recognized the benefits of case management services for patients with complex and costly conditions such as cancer, trauma or organ transplants.

Attorneys are increasingly asking potential jurors about their use of prescription medications. The reasoning behind this line of questioning is twofold: In the first case, attorneys want to make sure that side effects associated with some medications will not interfere with the person’s ability to serve as a juror. Health Care Costs for Uninsured Top $30 Billion

According to researchers at George Mason University and the Urban Institute, uninsured Americans will pay $30 billion for health care in 2008, and they will receive $56 billion of free care, mostly in the form of government programs. The study, published in the journal Health Affairs, also found that insured Americans receive more care and pay for less of it out of pocket than do uninsured Americans.
