LNCC Certification

29 November 2007 46 views No Comment

The Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC) credential is the hallmark of professional achievement in the legal nurse consulting specialty. It is the sign of an experienced LNC, as it is a certification that has to be earned through experience and demonstrated mastery of content. The
LNCC program is administered by the American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board (ALNCCB), an autonomous arm of AALNC.

The LNCC is the only legal nurse consulting certification that is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) and is endorsed by the AALNC. This ABNS accreditation distinguishes the LNCC program from other options — and, in fact, we are the only
certification program in legal nurse consulting accredited by ABNS.

To be accredited by ABNS, the program must meet rigorous standards. These standards dictate many things, including an experience requirement prior to sitting for the exam. Experience in the
field is a standard requirement for other nursing specialty exams. To remain accredited, our program must go through a rigorous reaccreditation process every 5 years.

How is the LNCC Program different from other Certification and
Certificate Programs?

• The LNCC exam is the only legal nurse consulting exam accredited by ABNS.
• The LNCC exam is designed by practicing LNCCs, approved by the ALNCCB, and administered by an independent testing company.
• The LNCC exam reflects the current spectrum of legal nurse consulting practice as outlined by regular collaborative practice analysis performed by ALNCCB.
• Eligibility for the LNCC exam is not tied to the completion of any educational program — it is based primarily on delete the licensure and experience of the candidate.
• The LNCC credential is achieved by individuals who meet the eligibility requirements (including licensure and experience) and pass the certifying exam.
• Renewal of the LNCC is required every five years to demonstrate current knowledge and continued practice in the field.
